Hello, and welcome to Sysnative :)

Please download and install the System Update Readiness Tool from here: What is the System Update Readiness Tool?

Please save the download somewhere convenient you can later find it as we may well need it again later. Save you a second download :)

Also please be aware that the tool can take up to an hour (very occasionally even longer) to complete. Please be patient.

Once it has completed, please follow the instructions here: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-update/4736-windows-update-forum-posting-instructions.html

to export your CBS folder, and upload it to a new post in this thread. I will analyse the logfiles and get back to you.

Thank you!

Richard

Thank you for responding niemiro and helping me out and for the welcome.
It all started with trying to get Dirt 3 setup to work but I would get the Error Code: 0X800B0100. I Had not downloaded any updates since 9/17/12. The reason was because the Windows Update Will never finish downloading anything, it would stay like buffering; I don't know the right word but that's the closest I can get to. I went online and use fix it tools from Microsoft to fix the problem, and looked around youtube tutorials to figure out a way to fix the issues of not having windows update work. I had few issues with fix it because it kept telling me things were repaired and it didn't seem like because I still couldn't download any updates. After a good amount of fix it and youtube tutorials my windows update worked. After I messed it up by visiting this site You receive a "0x80070002" or "0x80070003" error code after you download an update from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or from Windows Server Update Services but then this morning I did some more fix it and windows update started to work again. I installed all updates that I have the (No important updates available). I purchase regcure pro thinking it would fix all the issues i had but it didn't fix the Error Code: 0X800B0100 or the windows update issue, i bought it mainly for the error code because I saw a tutorial showing it would fix errors. I just recently downloaded http://download.microsoft.com/downl...-00FD16337268/Windows6.1-KB947821-v26-x86.msu and patched it. Then I copied CBS.zip file after the patch.(No restart) Not sure if I should restart, I didn't get message so I came straight to Sysnative to give back. I will be waiting for further instructions.

Hello again :)

Your 0x800B0100 error appears to be more Dirt 3 than Windows Update related. When the install ends, do you get the option to go to the "Log Folder"? If you do, please select it, open any logs, and paste them into your next reply.

After that, please open an Elevated Command Prompt: How to start an Elevated Command Prompt in Windows 7 and Vista

and copy and paste in:

regsvr32 Softpub.dll /s
regsvr32 Wintrust.dll /s
regsvr32 Initpki.dll /s
regsvr32 mssip32.dll /s

It is quite rare for this to be the fix, but we may as well not overlook the simple stuff.

Next: Start Orb > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options > Security Tab > select Trusted Sites > click on Sites > uncheck "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone" > add the following:

http://update.microsoft.com
https://update.microsoft.com
http://*.update.microsoft.com
https://*.update.microsoft.com
http://download.windowsupdate.com

OK out of everything.

If you continue to have Windows Update issues, please follow very carefully everything outlined here: Temporary connection-related errors may occur when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update
Do not hesitate to ask if you need help at any point.

Richard

Hello Secilu,

Sorry for the delay. When you deal with a lot of threads, it's very easy to forget about one.

Are you still having issues with this?

I have reviewed your logs that you uploaded and it seems that the culprit file is this:

Code:
(12:07:14) Loading C:\Users\WindWalker\Desktop\Dirt 3 Extracted\xliveinstall.dll
(12:07:58) Exit code: 0x800b0100

Can you zip it up and attach it to your next post please?

C:\Users\WindWalker\Desktop\Dirt 3 Extracted\xliveinstall.dll

I am really sorry I lost this thread, Secilu.

If xliveinstall.dll is not damaged, then media2.cab is:

Code:
(12:07:58) Verifying C:\Users\WindWalker\Desktop\Dirt 3 Extracted\Media2.cab failed [Code:0x80073602]
(12:07:58) File 'C:\Users\WindWalker\Desktop\Dirt 3 Extracted\Media2.cab' was not signed correctly or its contents are invalid.
(12:07:58) Verified files [Code:0x800b0100]

Looks to be a damaged, dirty, or scratched disk.

Your only option is to try to clean it, but there is no guarantee it won't make the problem worse - but then again, it isn't working now either.

Use a soft, non-abrasive cloth, which doesn't leave fibres, to rub the disk. Work from the inside out, gently but firmly wiping away any dirt. Do not run outside to in, and certainly never ever rub around in circles.

If you need any more help, please don't hesitate to ask. Are there any obvious really deep scratches? These require a bit more work to deal with, and are much, much less likely to end well.

Good luck!

Richard
