Hi,

About the problem of "Content Encoding Error" in Firefox when downloading the sysnativebsodcollectionapp-exe

The problem is the same described on this link: Facebook fails to load if using br encoding | Firefox Support Forum | Mozilla Support

By changing the configuration on Firefox about:config to not use the Brotli encoding for https it works, I suppose a simple workaround is to provide the download link without https SysnativeBSODCollectionApp.exe - Sysnative because by default the Br encoding is not used for http links.

I think that most OPs would be reluctant to make a browser change such as proposed to accommodate Sysnative so that they can download an app.

We are looking into the problem.

Regards. . .

John

The OP's don't need to change anything only the download link should use http:// instead of https:// until the problem is resolved...

I just successfully downloaded the BSOD app with Firefox.

I'm running Firefox 66.0.1 - if that makes a difference.

Does this then mean that Firefox is at fault here and not Sysnative?

Yes, definitely Forefox as it happens only on a limited number of systems using that particular encoding.

No, it's definitely Sysnative at fault. It's because most of our website uses brotli compression but Wordpress uses gzip and somewhere along the line the gzip download is being served as content encoding br. Most browsers gracefully ignore this, but Firefox throws an error.

We tried to find the root cause but it wasn't easy to track down or fix after the fact. We're also just about to replace our download manager and remove Wordpress from the website so..

I am able to download the https app with Firefox - version 60.0.1

It wants me to update to 60.0.2 but I decline.
