Hi, I have Vista 32-bit SP2 and I ran SURT and it told me I am missing this repair file: x86_microsoft-windows-i..rnational-timezones_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.20941 _none_13c0790125a8a325.manifest The file is located in the winsxs folder and I was wondering if anyone happened to have this file that maybe you could either PM it to me or reply to this message so I can run SURT again and repair the file and fix windows update? Thanks so much and please let me know

Hello, and welcome to Sysnative!

Please extract the file provided into C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSUR\winsxs\Manifests and re-run the System Update Readiness Tool. Then post the logfile at C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log here to make sure everything's all good.

Hello and welcome to the forums :)

I have subscribed to this thread, which means i get instant notifications once you respond. There is no need to send me any more PM's :)

The error that is still appearing from WU is most like from the two corrupts found by SFC:
Code:
CORRUPT: C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-i..lified-chinese-core_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6002.18005_none_19fcd6ed45154956\IMSCPROP.exe
CORRUPT: C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-m..c-oracle-driver-dll_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6001.18000_none_690f399342f322a6\msorcl32.dll

Lets get these repaired up.

Windows update is still not working and giving the same 80070490 error message for 15 updates. I attached my cbs script inside a zip file and my sfcfix script text file. I also ran sfcfix and it still says the same corrupt files are there. I really appreciate all your help and I hope that you are able to help me fix this issue. Thanks so much and happy holidays!

When I run SFC fix again it still says that there are 2 important corrupt files but doesn't name them this time. I just want to remind you that I have Vista 32-bit SP2. Could it be that maybe you gave me the wrong files in the sfcfix.zip folder? thanks so much

I attached two files. Now the sfc/scannow is coming back clean but when I run sfcfix fix after it still says 3 SFC/CBS corruptions with 1 umimportant corruption and windows update still gives me the 80070490 error. I hope you are still able to figure out what the issue is because this is really strange to me. Thanks so much for all your help.

Windows Update error 80070490

Based on the logs I have attached in my last post, does anyone know what it means when SFC/SCANNOW is saying that there are no more corruptions but SFCfix says there are 3 but it is not naming them in the autoanalysis? I guess the question is how do we find out what the corruptions are that SFCfix is detecting when it doesn't name them and the SFC/SCANNOW is stating there are no more corruptions? Maybe Niemiro knows because he made the program? thanks so much for everybody's help and hopefully we can get this issue resolved.

SFC /SCANNOW is not reporting any more issues:
Code:
POQ 95 ends.

You can ignore this, there are no more corruptions on your machine. The reason why they are still occurring inside SFCFix is because SFCFix scans your previous CBS log files as well as the most recent one. As these corruptions were detected in an old cbs.log SFCFix will still report that there was an issue previously.

Windows Update error 80070490

Then what should I do next because I am still getting the 80070490 in windows update? thanks so much

I am getting no more corruptions in sfcfix or cbs log but still getting the 80070490 error so what should I do next outside of reinstalling vista? thanks and any help is great is greatly appreciated.

Can you please run SURT one more time, after SURT has been ran please upload the following:

Export CBS folder

  1. Click the Start button
    StartButton_16x16.gif
    then click Computer.
  2. Double-click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder.
  3. Find and double click on the Logs folder.
  4. Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy.
  5. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS.
  6. Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
  7. A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created.
  8. Attach this to your next post please.
Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to you next post please upload via Dropbox or One Drive

The WU error is most likely being caused by these missing registry values and one payload file.

Please give me a couple of days to get a fix prepared.

Alex

No problem but if this next fix you give me doesn't get rid of the 80070490 error what should i do? thanks so much

Are you having a problem finding a fix? also, what should i do next if this fix doesn't work? thanks so much

No. It's not a case of finding a fix, it's the case of me having the time to construct it :) registry fixes can take me some time to create as I have not made many before.

If this doesn't work you will be looking at doing a repair install of windows.

Please download the Freeware RegBak from here: Acelogix Software - Download products

Navigate to C:\Windows\RegBak\{Date}\ and copy the COMPONENTS file to your Desktop. If the COMPONENTS file does not exist, please fetch it instead from C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS.

Now right click on it > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.

Then please upload it to your favourite file sharing website (it will be too big to upload here). If you have a Microsoft Account, OneDrive could be a good choice: https://onedrive.live.com/, but any other will do just fine. Make sure to set the file as publicly accessible

i tried to copy the components file but it wont let me because it says its in use so please let me know what services to stop so i can copy it..also will this repair that you want to do also fix the missing deployment keys and payload file that you mentioned in your last post? thanks
