I've tried running SFC /scannow from an elevated powershell and have run DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth.

Unfortunately, windows update will still not run.

Running the debugging tool, here's what I see: http://puu.sh/7rz7e.png

Attached here is my CBS folder.View attachment 7341

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, and welcome to Sysnative!

Your only SFC corruption should have been repaired by DISM. Can you please re-run SFC to check that it was.

As for your Windows Update error, I'm seeing no sign of it in CBS.log (this is not an particular problem - there are a lot of non-CBS Windows Update failures which don't show there, I just need to work out what sort of error it is so that I know where to look instead).

Therefore, please can you write down what error code/message you are receiving, and for which updates (list a max of 5, no need for a list 100 long).

Thank you.

Richard

Hi Richard,

Seems that SFC is not reporting any further issues. However, I still cannot connect to Windows Update. I have now rerun the troubleshooter and I'm seeing the following issues:

Again, sorry for the delay in responding - when SFC worked, I thought I was out of the woods, but recently (today) got an error that it still can't connect.

I've tried shutting down windows defender, Avast, Windows Firewall too. I've tried plugging my machine directly into the cable modem and detaching my router (DIR-655). I'm at a loss. Thanks for your help!

Sadly no dice. It was already set to automatically detect settings. Some moderately good news: net start wuauserv did succeed in cmd; but no dice when I use the gui windows update utility.
