Corrine - 8000 posts and counting!

Wow! Thanks, softwaremaniac. I hadn't even noticed.

Not that you couldn't handle the malware threads, Brian, but you do have your hands full helping in the WU forum and instructing new analysts.

A bit off-topic, but I hope I may ask: Which malware removal academy did you graduate from, Corrine? :)
I guess you could say I had private tutoring. A bit of a story but you asked so here goes:

In 2003, I began helping with Ad-Aware on the old Lavasoft forums (prior to the current forums), picked it up fairly quickly and soon was promoted to LavaXPert (

). It wasn't long that I was Forum Admin. The "Lavasoft Team" had a private chat where we worked with the original creator of Ad-Aware, Nicholas Stark (screen name, Urizen). Without going into detail, early in 2005, things started going downhill. Fortunately, we saw the demise coming and were ready to go at LandzDown Forum, created by one of the team members. Just as well because suddenly the "old" Lavasoft forums I mentioned were actually closed down. Although some have since "retired", there are still a number of us from that time at LandzDown. Our motto: "Stronger than the past, united in our goal." There's a lot more to the history but that will give you a bit of an idea. (BTW, in 2011, Lavasoft was acquired by the Solaria Fund and operates as a subsidiary of Lulu Software with ties to Upclick.com.)

Anyway, it was because of what I had done at the old Lavasoft forums that I was accepted as a security analyst/expert/whatever title at the various security forums. I served as Secretary, ASAP Admin Council and am a member of the UNITE Teachers group.

Congratulations Corrine :)

Also, thanks for the little backstory about how your training, I love reading stuff from the pre/early/old days of UNITE, ASAP and such :)

Congratz Corrine :thumbsup2:

Interesting story, I too was wondering how you became a security analyst :smile9:

Congratulations! I liked reading your abbreviated background history. Thank goodness there was a replacement forum. Too many times sites go down and you lose interaction with people.

It was more like a very brief, condensed, extremely modest synopsis of an abbreviated outline of her background! And I can personally attest to the fact that she has been fighting the bad guys, mentoring the good guys, and helping the little guys (like me) well before 2003 for I am quite we "met" prior to 2003 at what was then ComputerCops (later CastleCops). In fact, I am not sure I can think of any Internet "friend" I've known longer who has been a constant presence from the beginning to current day.

She became a security analyst because she was one of the founding fathers... err founding mothers... err pioneers/visionaries in the field. Can you say the "Grace Hopper" of personal computer "malware removal"? I can.

8,000 posts is but a tiny but significant accomplishment among many. Well done, Corrine! :thumbsup2:  :beerchug2:

Thank you everyone!

How about grandmother, Bill? :D

Yup, long-time virtual friends and when I've needed an expert on hardware, I haven't hesitated to contact you. ComputerCops > Castle Cops where we watched when RubbeR DuckY/Marcin Kleczynski and nosirrah/Bruce Harrison left to devote full time to developing MBAM.

I met plodr at Freedomlist, circa 2000 but gone since June, 2016. We were both admins there. No idea how many posts I had there but it was well over the 14018 mark I provided for 2014 MVP renewal stats. Almost 18K at LandzDown and, come to think of it, I had over 10K in the short time at Lavasoft. There have been many other forums that have come & gone over the years.

Yeah, I really regret not investing in that company. I didn't have the expertise, but did have a few extra $$$ I could have tossed in. Oh well. When I win the lottery... . ;)
