For a long time one of my favourite picture-blog sites www.icanhascheezburger.com (and all others in its network) had been upgrading their sites slowly to newer designs and technology. However ever since I connect to their new design (the 'beta') which they are now forcing us to do, my computer's Hard Disk Drive is accessed for at least 15 seconds straight and my computer slows down to the point where even the mouse cursor would not operate, then everything clears up and I connect to the site. This only happens on my first visit of turning the computer on, so it doesn't happen on subsequent visits. What's going on - how can I fix this? I'm pretty sure the site uses WordPress, though I don't know what their "new technology" is. I don't think any other site does this.

Do you have the most recent Adobe Flash update installed? [h=3]Verify Installation[/h] To verify the Adobe Flash Player version number installed on your computer, go to the About Flash Player page, or right-click on content running in Flash Player and select "About Adobe Flash Player" from the menu. Update to the latest version using the direct link as there are no unnecessary add-ons included: Flash Player For Internet Explorer: http://download.macromedia.com/get/...sing/win/install_flash_player_11_active_x.exe Non-IE (Opera, Firefox, Etc.): http://download.macromedia.com/get/...ensing/win/install_flash_player_11_plugin.exe

I don't know what browser you are using, but when I visited with IE9 and turned off Tracking Protection, there were quite a few large advertisements that were loaded. I suspect that is what is causing the problem. You could create an RSS feed for the sites you visit there, although if part of the reason you visit is for the comments, they won't be available in the RSS feed.
