I have a troubled 2012 Exchange server that is stuck endlessly checking for updates. I've reset Windows Update components, done a few reboots, everything I know to do. I've run through sfc, dism, sfcfix. Attached are my CBS logs.

My CBS Logs: CBS.zip

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

It has sat for weeks... literally.

At first I purged logs and did typical WU reset tasks, then let it sit for a few days. Did a reboot, sfc/dism, etc. Was checking for nearly two weeks since then. On Friday, after digging through the CBS log, it appears to mention two update packages but it's unclear what it means. I tried downloading those packages and installing them one at a time... It's been sitting at "Searching for updates on this computer..." in that process ever since.

Would that be: KB2771431

It's doing the Searching for updates on this computer deal now.

I've attempted to install that... seems to be stuck "Searching for updates on this computer..."

Hm...

Please do the following:

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach the log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt in your reply.

I've run the removal tool for this version. I intend to reboot the server tonight. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks!

Server rebooted, and checking for updates for 15 hours as of now. Current CBS attached.
