CBS Logs corrupt file(s) issue

I have some persistent CBS log errors/corrupt files.(When i open my control panel, windows reinstall takes)... i copied cbs log file into desktop and i select-send to compressed Zip Folder.
i'v upload my Compressed (Zipped) CBS Log file in the desktop. Please let me know if there is any problem with the files I've attached. Thank you.

There are two files that need repairing so let's go ahead with the fix and see where it leaves us.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.


  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop
  2. Download the below file, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it

  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it
  6. SFCFix will now process the script
  7. Upon completion, a files should be created on your Desktop: SFC.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text



SFC Scan


  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
    button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

    Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Thanks Tom.. but when i drag sfcfix.zip onto exe, the application is failed to start because side-by side configuration is incorrect.please see the applicantion event log or use command line sxstrace.exe. when i make sfc scannow in command prompt, the windows resourece protection found corrupt. i attach the cbs text file.

Please download and install this package from Microsoft: Download: Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

Restart your computer, and re-attempt the SFCFix script provided by Tom. Hopefully there won't be a Side by Side Configuration Error this time.

Restart your computer, and re-attempt the SFCFix script provided by Tom. Hopefully there won't be a Side by Side Configuration Error this time.

Hi,
I have the same problem, but when running the program I have an error:

Failed to write temporary file for file or folder C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_1394.inf.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_en-us_beafdf583b909e3f\1394.inf_loc in RestoreFromDataBlock.
PowerCopy:: directive failed to complete successfully.

Please advice

Please do not attempt to run SFCFix scripts that were made for other users, it will not fix your problem and could make things worse.
