Hi, I'm having a boot problem. I'm getting this black screen whenever I'm restarting. It started when I was playing my media player then a BSOD showed. I force restart-ed my computer, and there started my black screen prob. But I can still access my desktop. I just have to wait for like 10-15 mins, and then it will boot up normally. I just don't get my PC problem... :(And then I searched it on the internet and got to read this thread saying I have to use a "sfc /scannow". This is what I got:Beginning verification phase of system scan.Verification 100% complete.Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.Details are included in the CBS.log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.logThis is the first time I've encountered this prob. I've seen a thread like this in this forum and it was solved... I'm hoping for a good response. Please help me, thanks. :')

Hello CosmicHIRO and welcome to Sysnative!

SFC has done a bit of work in the last run, so could you please reboot and run another sfc /scannow command please? Attach the CBS.log as before please. Then we can begin the fixing process :)

Tom

Sorry for a very late reply. . . I had problems after my reboot. T___T My laptop can't recognize the modem I'm using, that's why I can't connect to the internet.

So, here's my latest CBS.log. . . Hoping for the best.

Hi CosmicHIRO, welcome to Sysnative!

We have a tutorial available with common fixes for startup issues. I would suggest looking at the following two guides, in particular you may want to try running Startup Repair:
https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-7-%7C-windows-vista-tutorials/3895-startup-repair-windows-windows-7-windows-vista.html#post28377

Further info is available in this tutorial:

Hi Sir Will Watts...
I've already tried Startup Repair, and it didn't solved my issue. And apparently, it did not "unable" to boot. It just happens that it's abnormally slow.
But I might as well see it too. Thank you so much for your help! :)

Hi CosmicHIRO,

It's recommend running Startup Repair up to three times as it will attempt different fixes each time. The CBS log indicates there are corrupt files on the system that are used during start-up, likely the cause of the slow boot time. One of the experts will review your logs in more detail and provide a more specific fix, but in the meantime it may be worth running Startup Repair again to try and solve the problem.

I'm quite scared at rebooting right now... Thinking it wouldn't show my desktop again. I've read the link you showed me, and there are fixes I haven't tried yet.
I will try the Startup Repair 3-times. Hoping for better results...
Again, thank you Sir.

Hello CosmicHero,

If you can boot your computer, I would like you to run a third, and hopefully final, sfc /scannow command then upload your CBS log please? It's very rare that a third SFC run is required, but new corruptions have appeared in your second log that weren't in the first one, so I would like to see how they pan out in the next log.

Thanks,

Tom

I live in the UK so I still have a few hours to go, but Happy New Year to you too! Hopefully 2013 brings you less CBS log problems :p

Good day.. I've already done what Mr. Will Watts told me to do; I Startup Repair-ed my laptop 3 times today. First startup repair detected a problem at disk, then the second and third one did not detected a prob. Still, it's booting abnormally slow. Here's my latest CBS.Log file. . . 2013, please be good to me. :(

P.S. I just noticed that everytime I do a "sfc /scannow", my log file gets bigger. (Before it was 7.07 MB, now it's 8.59 MB) Is this a problem, too?

Hello again :)

The logfile size increase is perfectly normal. The reason for this is that the logfile is not empted before every SFC run, so every time you run SFC, you add more data onto the end, but don't clear anything out. Your current logfile actually contains details of every SFC run to date.

I am now satisfied that the computer has, for the moment at least, stabilised enough to perform a fix, which is a good thing. One of us will have something posted to you by the end of the day.

Hello CosmicHIRO,

SFCFix Script

Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop

https://www.sysnative.com/forums/downloads/sfcfix/

Download the following file, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it

View attachment 2910

Save any open documents and close all open windows
On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip
Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it
SFCFix will now process the script
Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt
Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

Tom

Good Day Sirs. . . I've downloaded the files and followed your instructions, but there's this error I'm not familiar with. What should I do?

Good Day Sirs. . . I've downloaded the files and followed your instructions, but there's this error I'm not familiar with. What should I do?

To fix this, please download and install this small package from Microsoft: Download Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) from Official Microsoft Download Center

Then install all Windows Updates, restarting your computer if necessary.

Now SFCFix should work again. Let me know if it does or doesn't.

Good luck!

Richard

Sir niemiro, I'm still having the problem even after installing it. I even checked it in my Programs and Features if it really installed correctly... What should I do?

Did any updates come through with Windows Update? I am wondering if they didn't install correctly.

Thank you!

Richard

In addition to what Richard suggested, I would like you to run a tool for me please:

  1. Please download the Event Viewer Tool by Vino Rosso VEW and save it to your Desktop:
  2. Double-click VEW.exe
  3. Under 'Select log to query', select:
    • Application
  4. Under 'Select type to list', select:
    • Error
  5. Click the radio button for 'Date of events'
In the From: boxes type 03 01 2012
In the To: boxes type today's date 05 01 2012
    Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.

Please post the Output log in your next reply
