Caps lock freezing my computer

Title says it all. When i turn on caps lock, the computer freezes for some seconds and all i have typed after that will show up at once. This is really annoying and it makes me type ThiNgS LIkE THIS sOMETIMES. Any idea of what it could be? Thanks

Edit: this doesn't happen everytime and i have no idea what might be causing it...
 
That's a new on on me. Sadly, you didn't tell us anything about this computer. We don't even know if a PC or notebook.

Have you tried a different keyboard? What about a "cold" reboot? By "cold", I mean shutting down, unplugging from the wall, removing the battery (if a notebook), waiting about 15 seconds, then connect power and booting again.

Sorry, it's a notebook. I'm actually using a different keyboard because my notebook keyboard is not working anymore so i had to use another one. I'll try this "cold" reboot

Edit: found someone with the same problem. Don't know if i can post any links so tell if i can't. Also, this only happens when i turn on caps lock (just noticed it happens with num lock too) but it doesn't when i turn it off

What happens when you use the on-screen keyboard and tap Caps Locks? (Type osk in the search/run box)

If this works, it is a workaround until you can borrow an external keyboard from a friend to see if a different external keyboard solves the problem.

Does it freeze when rather than pressing caps lock you use shift to type a capital letter?

I've just tried that and the same thing happens
 
If this is a Dell computer, see if Quikset is running (msconfig in search/run box then click on the startup tab). If it is there, remove the check/tick from Quikset.
See if the freezing stops.

It's from ASUS
 
Well just to try and cover some other things that could go wrong, see if anything from Asus pertaining to a keyboard is running in startup then disable it and see how the external keyboard works.

The only ASUS item I have is an android tablet so that won't help you at all.
 
Is easy anti cheat installed?
Can you re-install it? (i.e., is this possible?)
Can you temporarily remove it and reinstall it later?

If you respond no to each question, try a clean startup (or clean boot):
  • Start, searchbox, type msconfig, press enter.
  • In the new msconfig window, in General tab (default opened tab), click Selective startup and untick/deselect Load startup items.
    Only that one should be unticked, the other two must be ticked.
  • Go to Msconfig Services tab, tick/select Hide all Microsoft services.
    Don't forget to hide them!
    Disable the remaining NON-windows services.
    I.e., DON'T disable windows services!
  • Click ok, reboot
  • Verify if the problem persists.

I noticed it might have something to do with the mousepad. I noticed this "caps lock freezing" happens when the touchpad is disabled. When it's enabled this doesn't happen but i'm not disabling it. Something else is disabling it
 
One of the function keys enables and disables the touchpad. Since your keyboard isn't working properly, the function keys might not be working properly.

I always get a message from driver booster saying there's something wrong with the touchpad with a button to repair. I click repair but that message appears again after a few days
I don't know if it really repairs the error. The error code is 24
 
Have you considered that driver booster might be causing the problems?

I never believe in running 3rd party driver programs. The safe way is to look on Asus' site for your model and only load drivers from there. Drivers rarely need updating.

I also don't run any Iobit programs. About 9 years ago, Malwarebytes accused the company of stealing MBAM's intellectual property on Iobit's malware detection program. Seems they were using MBAM's engine to detect malware.

Actually no. Do you know if there's any way i can undo changes made by driver booster?
Or just its uninstall will solve it? Thanks
 
Sorry, I've never used a program that updates drivers. I rarely update drivers. Go into Device Manager and see if the option to rollback driver is not grayed out. (Mine is because I haven't updated it.)

I'd say the first step is to go to the manufacturer's site and download the newest drivers for everything. If the computer is older, the dates of the drivers will likely be several years old. Put the drivers onto a USB stick for safe keeping.

Next, I'd probably use Revo Uninstaller to remove Driver Booster. It "might" remove the program and the drivers but I'm not sure on that.

Third, go through this procedure to install the drivers.

Iobit driver booster could have created a system restore point before the changes.
It also can allow to restore the previous drivers (like windows device manager, by the way), but I'm not totally sure about the steps (because currently it isn't installed in my machine).
