Always a good idea to have 1.a current System Restore point created. 2.a recent "Back up" of your computer- preferably to an external HD. before using any Registry Cleaner.

Personally, although CCleaner is not known to cause the type of system havoc other registry cleaners do, I recommend using it for temp file, cookie cleanup and leave the registry alone.
