Hello Sysnative Community,

I am getting constant BSODs when I will play the game "Call of Duty 4", which is based on DirectX9 (indicated by the d3dx9_34.dll in program folder). The BSOD has the type 0x117 (I've posted the same here: http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f299/bsod-related-to-amd-driver-670666.html#post3916994). My AMD Driver tries to restart, but the game shows a grey screen and nothing happens. I have re-installed Catalyst drivers up to seven times now, but no version is working.

My system:

  • Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1 OEM (original installed; came pre-installed
  • System is 2 years old
  • I reistalled Windows three times, yesterday was the last re-installation
  • CPU: AMD Phenum II X4 955 (4x3,2 Ghz)
  • ATI Radeon HD 5770 Video Card (Catalyst 12.9 beta driver (newest one))
  • Motherboard: MSI 770-C45
  • Power Supply: be quiet! Pure Power 530W

In addition I dont understand this thread that describes my issue: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/showthread.php/35-Video-TDR-Timeout-0x116-0x117
What can I do to play the game again?

My PC runs very well when I don't play games, but I am getting problems with the Aero Effect, such as pixel issues etc. etc.

My zip that I'll attach contains all necessary information plus the *.dmp files located in the WATCHDOG folder.

I've investigated very much and some users with that issue wrote, that the problem may be caused of the AODdriver. Mine was 4.2.0, I deleted it.

Regards,

Daniel Fischer

I see that writhziden is helping you out over there.
Let's put this topic on hold here and see what comes up out of that.

writhziden is also on staff here, so we know his work well - and he's very good at what he does!
Good luck!
