Hallo John, i have another problem with Windows Update. Microsoft Update does not install 5 updates and I get error 800B0100.
I've done the scan and attached the CBS file and sfc txt. Not sure what I'm suppose to do next on getting this fixed. Any help out there?
Many thanks
Franco

Hello again,

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named BrianDrab. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phrase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. We need to collect information form the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT). Please follow the steps below.

Step#1 - Run SURT
1. Please follow the instructions Here to run the System Update Readiness Tool. When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT logs into your next post please.:

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

If they are too big to attach here go ahead and post then to a service that allows big files and just provide the link. Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace.

Thank you. Please do the following.

Step#1 - Fix Corrupt Files
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Please download the attached file, Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
  3. Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
  4. A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages
  5. Open the Manifests folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files). If the Manifests folder doesn't exist within Winsxs you will need to create it.

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests
  6. Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files). If the Packages folder doesn't exist within Servicing you will need to create it.

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages
  7. Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again.
  8. When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

That's actually different than what you originally reported (0x800B0100) and what I hoped you would say. In this case all we have to do is download and install these updates manually and then you should be all set. Please download and install the updates from the links below.

kb2839894
kb3028387 (skip this one for now)
kb2763523
kb2853952
kb2918077

Let me know how it goes.

We suspected that may be the case. OK, please try to install from Windows Update again. We understand that it will likely fail and that's fine. We need it to record the information in the log. Then please zip up and attach the C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log file.

Thank you.

Everything works fine. I apologize for the mistake and thank you for the avilability and competence. Many, many greetings.
