Hi all, I have LG 32LM6200 3D Led TV and desktop computer cable. I don't have broadband connection beside 3G Internet dongle which i use freq for web browsing on desktop.

1 I want to do is simply access my desktop movies on tv via ethernet cable.

2 Can i share my 3G usb dongle Internet with TV via computer Ethernet port like 3g dongle > Computer usb port > Computer Lan port > Led Lan port.

3 It has DLNA. If i am not wrong that has to be useful in my case. I am not sure about it. Please guide me how to do this. Kodi or XMBC have something to do with it.

I have good knowledge about gadgets and technology but newbie to DLNA, Home networking etc. You can answer my queries in geek way. I don't want to hook up pc with tv via hdmi or watch movies after transfer them in flash drive or portable hdd.

Is there any simple way to do network sharing like pc to pc via ethernet cable without internet connection. LG tv support DLNA and kodi also have UPnP.
Note- Please move my thread to appropriate category if posted in wrong section.

Hello Mark, welcome to Sysnative!

What version of Windows are you running? Does it have to be over an ethernet cable, ie would wireless be okay? What format are the videos in? If it's something Windows natively plays then Windows Media Center should do the trick, otherwise I'd go with Plex or XBMC.

Just now i get reply from other forum(read below). What i understand from their answer is Nero media will as a interpreter between tv and pc. I will need UPnP supported router. It may be sound folish but is there any virtual UPnP software? Can i make it work without Internet connection using any virtual router software or something else. I am ready to buy wifi dongle for PC and LG TV if it helps. Any help will be appreciated. If i can get this using XMBC please reply.

"Just connecting the TV and PC via a network cable doesn't make a network. You'll have to create an "ad hoc" network to get the computer to talk to the TV (and visa versa). Reading the manual, it appears your TV can do that.

Once you get the TV and PC connected, you'll need some way to stream your content. LG offers a free copy of Nero Media Home to do that"

The reply you received on the other forum hit the nail right on the head, the only way you'll do this is with an ad-hoc network. Is your computer not wifi enabled? If not, you'll have to get a wifi dongle. When you have wifi capabilities, follow this to create a hotspot:

Turn Your Windows PC Into a Wireless Hotspot

What format are the videos in? The program of choice depends on the answer to this question.

I'm not very good with networks, but wouldn't a network bridge be a possibility? If you open up the Network and Sharing centre, and on the left click on Advanced Adapter settings, does your 3G dongle show there? Can you Ctrl-Click on both the 3G dongle and ethernet > right click > bridge connections.

There's probably some critical flaw I've overlooked in this plan - as I say, I'm not a networking specialist, but it would be the first thing I would try if this were my own PC.

Thanks for reply. I think now am at right track. I will buy wifi dongles for TV and PC but can i access pc files on tv without internet like we access lappy files on phone via wifi. Does it consume bandwidth while watching movies from PC on TV. I have movies in mkv,mp4,avi with DTS audio. I have windows media center and XMBC installed. Now what next.

Thanks Richard, I used to bridge the connection from my xbox to my laptop (xbox-ethernet-laptop) so I could get wifi reception in the lounge but wasn't aware you could bridge it like that.

Before buying anything, have you seen niemiro's post? It's well worth trying :)

I've done similar things in the past. My old 3G dongle used to show up as a virtual dial-up modem.
