A great site for finding legit Freeware.

Going to the source is always, always, always the best way!!

That being said, these reliable compendium sites serve the purpose of reminding me about certain software I've used and forgotten over the years as well as containing what I'll call some "homebrew gems."

But for anything listed that is available from the primary source, that's where I'll end up fetching it from (unless, of course, I recognize that the link given is directly to the primary source, and it often is).

OlderGeeks is good. From time to time Deanna, half of the two member oldergeeks team writes an article in the Ask Woody Newsletter and I'm always amazed at the programs she mentions.
The last one mentioned, is here
FREE EDITION: Ratool — Because firewalls can’t stop everything @ AskWoody
to prevent flash drives from being usable when inserted in computers. I can see that that is helpful for public access computers and even to use if you travel with a laptop.

Just to say something here, about USB drives protection: I don't change MCShield by MyCity. There was a discussion about this tool among Malware Experts, two years ago when it got updated to be compatible with the last Windows 10 updates, and it seems that it is the only one which doesn't olny take care of the autorun.inf infection technique. It is more complex (however very easy to use/user friendly) and addresses other ways to be infected from USB too (e.g. LNK method).
