We have a custom built machine running Windows 7 Professional with all updates applied. We have been experiencing the BSOD's about once every 2 weeks for several months. I ran verifier for about 48 hrs without any BSOD's. The faulting code is identified to be csrss.exe, but I suspect it is a victim rather than the problem.

The F4 error is generally identified as a I/O error so I am running memory check now, I have a SSD drive for the system drive with several other SATA drives in the machine, I'll check those after the memory check has run for a while.

How do you check a SSD for errors, when I run a chkdsk I get a warning saying that if I run chkdsk it could shorten the life of the drive?

Thanks for the help

Please provide this information for a more complete analysis: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/sh...SOD)-Posting-Instructions-Windows-7-amp-Vista

To test your SSD you use the tools provided by the SSD manufacturer. If your manufacturer doesn't provide tools, you may want to try this (I haven't used it myself): http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskInfo/index-e.html

The most important things with SSD's are:
- updating the firmware for the SSD, and
- updating the storage controller drivers on the motherboard.

Your Norton/Symantec backup drivers date from 2009.
Please uninstall Norton/Symantec backup and see if that helps.

Please update your USB 3.0 drivers. They date from 2010, and some of those drivers tend to generate BSOD's

Symantec/Norton A/V dates from 2011, please update to the latest available version.

How did you get information out of the minidump? Is there another process to run them through other than windbg?

Yes indeed. Most of the mundane Windbg manual work has been automated starting in 2008 with batch and VBS scripts & running the driver list output files against usasma's Driver Reference Table. The current version apps are not batch/VBS any longer; all rewritten and profoundly enhanced & a literal ton of new functionality added by writhziden, including a GUI.
