[SOLVED] KB3035583 Reappeared After Being Hidden

Thanks Aura, If it's only necessary to uninstall KB3035583 to avoid upgrading to 10, does that mean I should still install newer versions of patches like KB295664, or is it okay to hide these as well? Thanks.

Thanks Aura, One other thing I wanted to ask about is that Windows Update has just upgraded KB3083710 from Optional to Important. I haven't been able to find much about this patch - should I install it or is it okay to hide it? Thanks.

A few months ago I ran into complications relating to windows Update trying (and failing) to upgrade to Windows 10. I didn't want to upgrade to 10 at the time and eventually uninstalled and hid update KB3035583 and, under the guidance of a Sysnative Admin, made a slight change to the WU registry...

Hi BrianDrab, So far, nothing's tried to download/install/fail, even after I set Windows Update back to "download but let me choose whether to install updates". Really hoping it will stay that way. :smile9:

Hi BrianDrab, Not sure if I'm doing something wrong but I can't find the registry key. I can get as far as CurrentVersion but there's no WindowsUpdate file inside, only Explorer and Browser Helper Objects.

Hi BrianDrab, Checking for updates after switching to "Never check for updates" doesn't seem to cause anything to appear in the normal updates list, failed or otherwise. Oddly, in the last hour or so, Windows Update was working very hard in the background "downloading" something that took ages...

Hi BrianDrab, I ran the FixIt again in Aggressive mode, rebooted and ran a check for updates. Interestingly, there was no slow down this time. After the initial check, Update found only KB3035583, which I hid again. Ten minutes later the "failed" update returned, but isn't listed in the update...
