    Retrieve Components Hive
    1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
    2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
    3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
    4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload toa file sharing service and just provide the link here.

Re: [Server2012R2Upd3 x64] Element not found. WU 0x80070490 when trying to install MP

Step#1 - Capture Process Monitor Trace
    1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
    2. Open an elevated Command Prompt and run Dism /online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:MultipathIO /All just like you have in the past.
    3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as DISM fails. You can simply do this by clicking the magnifying glass on the toolbar as shown below.

    4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
    5. Zip up and attach the LogFile.PML file as well as your CBS.log and your setupapi.dev.log

    1. Click the Start button and type cmd.exe in the search box.
    2. Right-click on the cmd that comes up and select Run as administrator.
    3. Once you are at the command prompt, copy/paste the following line and hit enter.

Re: [Server2012R2Upd3 x64] Element not found. WU 0x80070490 when trying to install MP

    Hi softwaremaniac,

    Failed with msg:
    Processing inf : wvms_pp.inf
Adding the driver package failed : The style of the INF if different than what was requested.

    Total attempted: 1
    Number successfully imported: 0

it seems like in C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_wvms_pp.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.3.9600.18654_none_53c43b4ec5413ebd the inf file is readable.
The one from folder you tried to import looks like it had jibberish. I tried to look back the backup folder and my earliest copy from Oct 2017 seemed to have the same corrupted file.

The one in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\wvms_pp.inf_amd64_5512ac76723edb05 seems ok.
