    Re: [Win7SP1Pro x64] WU corrupt/broken. Surt tdcc 10.

    I've ordered a replacement SSD.

I ran the HD testing utility you mentioned a few days ago, and watched it take "forever" to test the middle of the disk after blowing through the beginning. Something has to be wrong with the disk.

I then used another Dell utility to test my system and it said the HD tests failed. That was enough for me. I ordered a replacement and plan on using Carbonite Mirror image to move the entire system onto the new disk.

I will post after that has been completed.

Hopefully, this is the issue - seems to be inline with everything we have seen.

    Will keep you posted. Thanks!

Please do following first. There might be something wrong with the System Restore settings.

Click Start, type sysdm.cpl in the searchfield and press enter.
In the window System Properties open the tab System Protection.
Take a screenshot. Read this on how to take a screenshot.
Upload the image file to a file-sharing site and post the downloadlink

There are 3 available drives listed under Protection Settings. Do you have a drive D: ?
Can you scroll through this list to see if there are more drives ?

    I do not have a D: drive.

This system has a single SSD - which is going to be replaced shortly. The replacement arrived yesterday.

All right. Sometimes System Restore crashes with error 0x80042308 if unavailable drives are enabled in Protection Settings.
As this is not the case with your system, go ahead and replace the SSD.
Let me know if this fixes the issue.

Replaced the drive using Carbonite Mirror Image.

Attempted to create System Restore point... It worked!

Ran HD Tune on the new drive. It completed in just under 20 minutes (much better than the several hours it took on the last drive) and no more damaged blocks

Is there anything else I should do to make sure everything is normal before declaring victory?

    Great.
If the issue with Windows Update is still solved you may remove all the tools and logfiles used in this thread to clean up.

    Provide a logfile:

    1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
    2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
    3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, then press enter.

      Code:
      copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
    4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.
Note: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Filedropper or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the download link.
