    Computer Freezes Randomly

First off I think this is where this should go but not sure (sorry if its not). So my computer has started to freeze randomly. When I say this today for example it froze twice in the matter of maybe an hour. This has happened before, but has gotten worse. Any help would be appreciated.

    Re: Computer Freezes Randomly

Sadly, you told us nothing about this computer, other than it runs W10. We don't even know if a notebook or PC. So we need your system specs.

Does it unfreeze by itself or do you have to power cycle it?

While this could be the operating system locking, it could also be a hardware issue. It could be failing RAM, bad power, failing motherboard or something else. That is why freezing computers is often very difficult to troubleshoot.

    Hi LoweDennis.

Given that you are using speccy, give us all the informations:

    • Retrieve System Information, using speccy

      1. Download Speccy portable - actual version 1.29.714 (click), unzip/decompress it and put it on your desktop.
      2. When the program opens, it will retrieve some information regarding your system.
      3. Once it's done, select the File menu and choose Publish snapshot. Answer Yes to the confirmation message.
      4. On the next screen that comes up, choose the Copy to Clipboard button and paste this link in your next reply.
      5. (Or attach the log here, if you prefer to not publish it for some reason)

    • System information log
You should run only one of the following commands, the one you prefer.
      Read More:
      Code:
      msinfo32 /nfo "c:\users\YourWinAccountFolder\desktop\MsInfo.nfo"
      or
      msinfo32 /nfo "c:\users\%username%\desktop\MsInfo.nfo"
      or
      msinfo32 /nfo "%userprofile%\desktop\MsInfo.nfo"
      (Then upload it here)

    Re: Computer Freezes Randomly

MSinfo shows that there are remnants of it.
I think you can find it in device manager (maybe in ide ata/atapi controllers?): right click it, click uninstall, in the window that should appear tick Delete the driver software for this device and click ok.

I don't know if it's the case you should create a system restore point before you do it, but I think it's always better and safe to have a new one.

    Re: Computer Freezes Randomly

In device manager view menu, tick show hidden devices, then check if you can find it in:
    • disk drives
    • dvd/cd-rom drives
    • other devices
    • scsi and raid controllers
    • storage controllers

    Edit:
    Too late: where it was?
