I seem to have something on my system that will keep your tool from running on here.
I came from bleeping computer's forum just thought you may want to know about this.
So far it has defeated every tool I have tried and all of the windows built in trouble shooters.

I will make the same offer here if I can create a complete image of this system I will mail it to anyone who wants to research it.
Be warned only open it in a well secured test environment. This may be something entirely new.

I re ran your tool plus the script twice now, once for 1/2 hour and then again for 1 hour it will not complete. What now?
Win 10 on a HP 15f009wn only being used about 3 months if that.

Does DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth complete?

DISM /RestoreHealth Scan

  1. Right-click on the Start
    w8start.png
button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
  2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

  3. When DISM finishes scanning your component store, zip up and attach your CBS log to your next post:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

I thought we had something for a minute. I had to leave for a little over an hour. It did finish running but gave a error ox800f096 and produced no logs.
We gave it the ole college try tho.
Thank you.

Went down in C farther than I have ever been before no logs at all. Even searched the whole system with the systems search function.

Try running this script:

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. [sfcfixdownload]Download SFCFix[/sfcfixdownload] (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

Thank yall again for your help. LOL This has exhausted me. Good luck with the logs I hope I did them right. I may have doubled the attachment, but it really did not look like it did anything the first time. Gnight now.

Windows updates problem.

I do not know if this will be of any ofany use or not.

I only noticed that my updates had notbeen loading and installing just a few days ago.
I normally check them every two weeksor so.

Earlier there were 30 or so updateslisted and Windows defender still updates regularly and says it iscurrently up to date. For me windows updates and defender updatesuseually come together.
Normally takeing 10 to 15 secondsdepending on the number and size of the updates.

Now however when forceing an updatewithin 3 seconds I get a failure to dl/install messge and windowsupdate will keep trying. This happens every time I click retry.

If I click on advanced options I get aerror message in red that some settings are being controled by mycorporation??? What corporation. Microsoft's corporation cause Icertainly do not have one.
Just this single PC.

I have always been set to dl/installupdates automaticaly no other options are available to me. Altho when10 first installed there were other options listed but no more.

The newest update I can find installedis dated 9-23-2015 most are 9-04-2015 there used to be many morelisted but not anymore.

Error messages have been0x80070564;0x80070409; 0x80080008 and 0x800f096.

Thank you all for trying to help.

Let's try resetting the Windows Update components.

Run Windows Repairs
  1. Download Windows Repair (All-in-One) Portable to your desktop.
  2. Once the file is downloaded, right-click on the file on your desktop and choose Extract All...
    Extract.JPG
  3. Keep the defaults and click the Extract button.
  4. A folder named tweaking.com_windows_repair_aio will be extracted to the desktop. Once the extraction is complete the folder will open.
  5. Inside this folder, there is a folder named Tweaking.com - Windows Repair. Open this folder as well.
    Capture.JPG

  6. Double-click on Repair_Windows.exe to open. Note: Please make sure all of your programs are closed and anything you were working on is saved as we will be rebooting.
  7. When the program opens, click the Reboot to Safe Mode button at the bottom of the screen. Answer Yes to allow.
  8. Once rebooted into Safe Mode, open the program again. When the program opens, click the Repairs tab and click the Open Repairs button.
  9. A backup of your registry will be made. After a few moments you will have many options from which you can choose.
  10. Please click the Unselect All button and then click to enable only the following ones:

10 - Remove Policies Set By Infection
    17 - Repair Windows Updates

  11. Ensure the Restart check box is selected and click the Start Repairs button in the lower right of the screen. This may take some time to run so be patient.

  12. Once the fixes are complete you will be prompted to restart your machine. Answer Yes.

Thank you I will print these instructions and begin shortly have a doctors appointment to go to first.
Thank you.

Well that was an experience. Never thought it would get through. When it finaly finished and rebooted it took over an hour to get back up.
Were there not supposed to be a log? It never created one. I am done for tonight I will find out tomorrow if Windows updates works or not.

First I want to thank everyone who
helped. So far so good, but I have a few questions.

I seem to have been revertated back to
an earlier state. Nearly all of my settings changes have been
retained, but a few apps that I uninstalled have returned and also a
cople of free trials of software that had expired I now have renewed
trials.

Did my changing of many default
seetings from defaults to what I wanted somehow trigger this
corruption. Posssibly I reached some unknown threshold that windows
found unacceptable?

I actually sat here and watched this
thing work. Boy did I have a lot of corrupted files. Lol

Now should I delete the files&tools
on my desktop and the few I have found remaining in C drive.

Thank you again for all of those who
helped on this matter.

I don't think it would be anything that you had done intentionally or that Windows would do because of customization. The message and the fact that running the repair process fixed it would suggest that a group policy setting had been applied that was preventing Windows from updating automatically. If this computer has ever had a virus or trojan removed, the policy may have been set by the infection.

I seem to have been reverted back to
an earlier state. Nearly all of my settings changes have been
retained, but a few apps that I uninstalled have returned and also a
couple of free trials of software that had expired I now have renewed
trials.

I'm not sure what would cause that. If the only two boxes that were checked were number 10 & 17, it should not have any effects like this.

Now should I delete the files&tools
on my desktop and the few I have found remaining in C drive.

Yes, you can remove any tools, zip, or text files that I have asked you to download during the repair process.

I'm glad things are working for you again :thumbsup2:

I'll mark the thread solved. Post back if you encounter any problems and I will continue to assist you.

win7backup.JPGHate to bother ya again but will all the missed earlier updates slowly be dl/installed by update or do I need to go to Microsoft and find them and manually install them.
One other odd thing I found was my back up and restore app is now set for windows 7. Windows 7 has never been on this computer

If you run the Windows Update from the control panel and check for updates are any updates offered?

The (Windows 7) in that screenshot is referring to the Backup and Restore program that can be launched from the Control Panel and is backwards compatible with the old Windows Backup files from Windows 7.
The backup feature in Windows 8 - 10 is File History, which provides most of the same file level backup capabilities as Windows Backup (but unlike Windows Backup does not provide scheduled System Image backups) and is more tightly integrated with Windows Explorer to provide the 'previous versions' restore option for individual files without having to browse through the backup interface.

My windows updates have been installing recently but only about 6 of them all current dates. The other updates that used to show before running the tools are not listed any more. This is what prompted the question do I need to go look for them. A couple of people have told me that there has been over a 100 updates since win 10 released.

As far as that screen shot I have been to that little page many times during this problem and it was different before it said win 8 which this computer was origionally installed with. Probably not a real issue it was just something that was different.
