Hi all,
Seems I am yet another victim of this audio popping and despite trying everything I can think of I'm still suffering.
History:
Laptop has worked great on windows 10 for 2 years, and on windows 8 prior to that. A few weeks ago I had to open the laptop and sweep out the dust as she was overheating. I figured I might as well go the full hoge and spring clean a fresh install of win 10.
I used the Windows 10 media creation tool to create a fresh iso, burnt it to usb and reinstalled.
On first boot I had to access youtube to look a video (was trying to fix the breakes on my car lol) and the audio popping was intense. I figured it was because I didnt have any Dell drivers installed etc.
So I installed DriverBooster and updated everything to the latest drivers, on reboot the same issue appeared. So I started googling and came across the DPC issue.
Current Status:
I have now low level formated and reinstalled with clean windows 10 from the media creation tool, and followed the sticky's guide for xperf and trace files etc. The download is available at: https://1drv.ms/u/s!ArXreXeCMuLIhHvOIDyBz4id9dhu
DPC latency is around 1000 - 1500 and caused by ndis.sys and on occasion storport.sys.
I have also updated all the drivers via driverbooster and driveridentifer and repeated the same xperf and trace. The download is available at: https://1drv.ms/u/s!ArXreXeCMuLIhHrOH_zLnQvkvpZO
Other tests:
Seeing that this was ndis.sys and probably network related I tried the internal realtek 10/1000 cat 5 port. Same issue.
bcedit has been set to Yes, and tcpoptimzer used, sfc checked and driver verification is currently disabled.
Where to go now? any thoughts? I have both states imaged so I can switch back to either quickly for checks.
thanks
