Exactis exposes 340 million records
Marketing Firm Exactis Leaked a Personal Info Database With 340 Million Records
This was not even a real hack. Instead, this company put all our data out on a public server or anyone to find. :banghead: :censored2: :mad7:
The leak doesn't seem to contain credit card information or Social Security numbers or other banking information. Instead, it exposed phone numbers, home addresses, email addresses, interests and habits, and buying history. Some reports say the information includes your hair and eye color, religious preference, and how many children you have, their ages and gender. Included is your smoking habits, information about your pets and more.
Why was this data put on a public server? Why was it not encrypted?
This breach, due to total company negligence, is so massive it totally overshadowed yesterday's report that Adidas was just hacked and millions of its customer's personal information was stolen. Apparently, the passwords were encrypted. Big deal. Nothing else was.
Someone needs to start being held accountable or these breaches and hacks just continue.
