I have downloaded SFCFix and it can't finish as it runs into the same 1734 error. Windows Essentials Management service is also dying with a 1067 error. The issue seemed to arise after a storage spaces drive failed. I have rebuilt the storages spaces, I have replaced all the drives and migrated to ReFS. The server folders are on that drive in case that has an impact on the answer. The only exceptions are the File History and client backup folders. The server seems to be generally happy in that it isn't logging any events other than the WSE Mgt service dies. Anyway any help will be greatly appreciated. I did the following in case someone else runs into this - 1. used regedit to export the key 2. deleted the key 3. ran sfc /scannnow and rebooted 4. merged the service back in 5. ran sfc /scannow and rebooted service wouldn't start 6. renewed the computer certificate 7. restarted the certificate service WSE Mgt wouldn't start 8. replaced C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\Data\DevicesInfo.xml with C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\Data\DevicesInfo.xml.bak service still didn't start 9. renewed the computer certificate and restarted the certificate service. WSE Mgt started, but couldn't setup backup 9. ran wbadmin deleted catalog and the service started and could set up backup (whew)
