Hello, all!

I've run into an issue with trying to install a couple of cumulative updates for Windows 10 (they keep failing). Upon further reading about this issue, and trying various fixes, I am lead to believe that it is a corrupted file.

sfc /scannow cannot fix the corruption.
DISM is unable to fix it, regardless of whether I set it to pull the files from Microsoft's servers, or from a local install.eds file (it always just says something along the lines of "source files could not be downloaded/found."
SFCFix runs up until DISM, then just sits there (I let it sit for a couple hours, and it didn't budge). I'll be letting it run overnight.

Checking the CBS.log file, it appears the following files is corrupted:
\SystemRoot\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft.windows.powershell.v3.common_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.10240.16384_none_9f8b0cd11e52ad99\Microsoft.PowerShell.Host.psd1

I've opened it in Notepad++, and it shows as just a string of "Nulls." I set up a VM with the same setup (W10 Pro x64) to check the file on there, and it contains readable information there, so it does appear that this file is indeed corrupt.

Seemed simple enough... Just replace the corrupt file with the non-corrupt one from the VM. However, upon attempting to make an SFCFix.zip file to replace it based on several examples I saw on here (manually replacing files with special permissions always proves to be a nightmare in past experiences...), it always gives the error "AutoAnalysis::
ERROR: File Placement Mode failed to identify destinations for all files and folders."

So, this one's above my head. Any advice?

Thanks!

Hmm... No way to edit my post. I guess I'll have to post the update here.

Successfully replaced the corrupted file (ended up using icacls and xcopy). Sfc /scannow reports no errors, and I am now able to run DISM without problem.

Issue is resolved.

Now to figure out why Windows Update is immediately failing...
