Server will install all updates except the monthly rollups since June 2017, when it was built. It will install the "security only" version. I have run sfc /scannow multiple times with no errors. Ran Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth multiple times with this response every time "The restore operation completed successfully. The component store corruption was repaired. The operation completed successfully."
I have followed this 2 times to no avail https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/971058/how-do-i-reset-windows-update-components

Uninstalled Symantec AV

Ran SFCFix - SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro.

Still any monthly rollup going back to June 2017 when the server was built simply will not install and errors with 80073701 in the logs. Security only will install.

I have looked on the web for 2 days solid tracking down what looks to me to be problems in the dism, cbs, and windowsupdate logs and still can't figure this out:huh:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Hello and welcome

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named softwaremaniac. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

Hello and welcome!

Remove Update Manually
1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter
wusa /uninstall /KB:4015550

4. Let me know if it says it was successful or if there are any errors.

Thanks BrianDrab and Softwaremaniac. I have no problem having 2 sets of eyes on the issue. We all started out somewhere and progressed by learning.

KB4015550 uninstalled without error. Server has been rebooted.

WOW! It installed without error :thumbsup2::thumbsup2: I feel like an idiot because in my days of searching for a resolution I never ran across the uninstalling of KB4015550 as a resolution. Was this because it was the first update installed during the initial build and was somehow corrupted? Or has this been an issue?

Thanks, you have removed a major ongoing issue for me!!!

Thanks for a Great website!!!!!! Donation posted.

I'm glad the problem has been resolved and thank you for the donation!
As for your question, each month a new quality rollup is released which contains everything the previous one did, and sometimes problems arise when going from one update to another because of the various items affected both in the filesystem and in the registry.

Best,
Mihael
