Hello and welcome

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named softwaremaniac. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phases of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

Hello and welcome to Sysnative!

Step#1 - System Update Readiness Tool (SUR)
1. Download and run the following file.
2. When it asks you if you wish to install, please answer yes. Note: It could take 15 minutes or more to run. Please don't cancel.
3. You will get an Installation Complete screen when it's done running.
4. Please attach the log from the following location. C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

Hi!

I did that.
The checksur.log is small (I paste it here)...the big one is CBS.Log do you need it too?

Thanks!

This is the checksur.log

2. Copy/Paste the following in to the command-prompt window and hit enter.
wmic qfe list brief /format:texttablewsys > "%USERPROFILE%\desktop\hotfix.txt"

3. This will create a file on your desktop named hotfix.txt. Please attach this to your next reply.

Thanks for your fast response.

I noticed that none of the Security Monthly Quality Rollup were installed.

Here is the file you requested.

the first is the only with error and the only remaining/offered

the second, are the optionals.

I suppose that on every monthly rollup, the updater omits the previously and failed rollups....true?

The remaining is number: KB4034664

If you need, I can provide you the list of all the past fails....but as I mention, I think that newer overlap older ones.

Install Update with DISM

  1. Download this update and save to your desktop. The file name will be Windows6.1-KB4034664-x64.cab.zip.
  2. Right-click on this file and select Extract All... Keep the defaults and click the Extract button. You can close the folder window that opens
  3. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  4. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator. Go ahead and allow if you receive the UAC prompt.
  5. Copy and paste the following command into the command prompt window and press enter.

    dism /online /add-package /packagepath:%userprofile%\desktop\Windows6.1-KB4034664-x64.cab\Windows6.1-KB4034664-x64.cab
  6. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
Restart Windows to complete this operation. <---You may not get this line.
Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)? <---You may not get this line.

Hi!

I attach here the dism.log

The command you provide brings an error (detailed at bottom)
I read the log, and I see that the path of the cab is correct, but something it needs appears to be missing.

The path I find inside the log, is this "C:\Users\Administrator\desktop\Windows6.1-KB4034664-x64.cab\Windows6.1-KB4034664-x64.cab" if y paste it in windows explorer, it opens the folder containing a lot of files...so I unbderstant that that path is ok.

View attachment dism.log

The error on screen is:

Code:
C:\Users\Administrator>dism /online /add-package /packagepath:%userprofile%\desktop\Windows6.1-KB4034664-x64.cab\Windows6.1-KB4034664-x64.cab

The system cannot find the path specified.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

Retrieve Components/Software Hives
Note: The Software have has confidential and sensitive information in it, so private message me the link to that particular hive so it's not in the public form.

  • Please download the Freeware RegBak from here: Acelogix Software - Download products
You will find it at the bottom of the page that the link brings you to.
  • Go ahead and install this program and accept all the defaults. After the last install screen the program should open.
  • Click the New Backup button. Accept the defaults and simply click Start.
  • When it says Finished successfully, click the Close button.
  • This will bring you back to the main screen of the program. You will see one entry in this list with the date that you did it. Right-click on this line-item and select Explore Backup...
  • This will bring you into the folder where the backup was made. You should see a Users folder and a Windows folder along with a couple other files. Double-click on the Windows folder to open it. Then open the System32 folder and then config folder. You should see around 6 files in here, two of which are named COMPONENTS and SOFTWARE.
  • Copy these two files to your Desktop. If the COMPONENTS file does not exist, please fetch it instead from C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS.
  • Now right click on these files on your desktop and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Then please upload the zip file(s) to your favourite file sharing website (it will be too big to upload here). Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and then just provide the link in your reply.
  • You can close any open windows you have as well as the RegBack program now.

Step#1 - Capture Process Monitor Trace
