Hello,
New here since I never thought needing forums nowadays but Microsoft is screwing us so badly due to (trying to) force W10 update.
Result:Windows update failed several times. Maybe around a month long now....
All this time searched & tested "solutions" but none fixed the whole package.
I could use some help here from a pro so thanks in advance.

Absolutely NOT...I've been hunting down, deleting and whatever else to keep Windows 10 out.
I'll decide eventually if I get it in the future, not Microsoft with their guerilla tech-tactics.

Understood. I just needed to verify. OK, it appears your components hive is corrupted. Please do the following.

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to SendSpace and just provide the link here.

Unfortunately it's what I expected. Your components hive is corrupt beyond repair. You only have three options.

1. If you have a full system backup that has a copy of a good COMPONENTS hive we could likely use that if it's not too old.
2. If you have your Windows 7 with SP1 x64 Media (i.e. DVD) we can attempt a repair install which will keep all of your programs and documents and will likely fix the issue.
3. Upgrade to Windows 10.

Sorry for the bad news.
