Hi ,

Since past 15 days, Windows Update keeps telling me to 'Restart your computer to install important updates'. No matter how many times I reboot, it still wants me to reboot again next time!

I think this could be linked to my PC trying to download Windows 10 - I'm on Windows 7 now. I installed the updates 3 months back , from that time i am not getting any updates, and when i am trying to search for updates , it is asking me to restart, but no luck.

Help me how this can be sorted out, Attached the CBS file.

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.
  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download the file below, SFCScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

Thanks. Would you be able to describe exactly what is happening...maybe with screen shots included? I just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly.

Hi Brain,

This time when i restarted the machine and tried checking the windows update . it is not asking for restart , But when i try to click to install updates , It is processing much time, Which is not all downloading single KB of data as well ( Internet connection is working fine) .Please find the screenshots which i took currently.

Hopefully the screenshot explains more techincal stuff , Also the failed errors /KBA article also provided) .

Thanks for trying to solve my problem.

Thank you. That makes more sense. I couldn't understand how you were still being prompted for a restart. Let the install try for 30 minutes. Let me know if it finishes.

Hi Braindrap,

I tried, but not even 1% is downloaded(All the updates are related to windows10, not sure where the problem lies. and i am sure that Internet is working fine,

Hi,
