Stats show that XP continues to be the second top desktop OS

Windows XP no longer receives support since April 2014, but this doesn't necessarily mean that all users are ready to give up on it and switch to a newer Windows version such as Windows 7 or 8.

Instead, many are actually sticking to XP for longer than expected, so the now-unsupported operating system continues to be the second top desktop platform in the entire world.

Preliminary stats provided by StatCounter for the month of December 2014 reveal that Windows XP is currently ranked second in terms of market share, after Windows 7, which obviously remains the preferred choice for the majority of users worldwide. More than 54 percent of the world's computers are powered by Windows 7, stats show.
