The message I am getting is File: \Windows\System\hal.dll Status: 0xc000000f Info: windows failed to load because the HAL is missing or corrupt Not sure what to do here, I don't have the original recovery disks. I do have a repair disk though and I have tried to do a repair from the boot disk with no luck. It seems I can't order these recovery disks from the manufacturer anymore either. There is a recovery partition on the hard drive but I can't get to it. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do you have any important data stored on your hard drive?

Thanks for the reply, I am actually at this very moment installing Windows 7, I have removed files that I need using Hiren's Boot CD. Again, thanks for the reply and the suggestion.

I think this error was non-harware related, it's actually quite common to not be. I think I used Crystal Disk Info on the drive and it showed up as good, your reply is noted though thanks.
