[SOLVED] Windows Updates not Auto Restarting.

We have a few Windows Server 2012 R2 servers that don't automatically restart after windows updates, even thought we have group policy that allows it.

I have ran the following commands to reset Windows Updates
Redirecting

I ran SFC /scannow which found two corruptions that it couldn't fix
I also ran DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

I am focusing on one server just now trying to fix it and then hopefully tackle the others if I can find a solution.
None of the above has fixed my issue can anyone have a look over the attached logs and let me know if they can spot anything?

Hello and welcome,

Step 1:
WARNING! The following fix is specific to the user's system in this thread only. No one else should follow these instructions, as it could damage your system.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it on your desktop.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Open the file, then copy and paste its content in your next reply.

Step 2:
Restart the machine.
Check Windows Update again and report the result.
If it fails, copy the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log to your desktop.
Zip the copied file and attach the zipped cbs.log to your next reply.

I forgot to update this but the issue we were facing was actually caused by the time we set our servers to update. We initially had our servers set to check for updates at 3am. We noticed a pattern in the event log, daily 44 events at different times of the day, followed by a reboot only when the 44 events happen to occur before 3am. So we adjusted our update check time to 10pm, now the 44 event is more likely to occur before this time and the server successfully reboots.

Thanks for the feedback, almost 10 months since the last post.

Did you perform the fix in step 1 ?
the issue we were facing was actually caused by the time we set our servers to update.
Does this mean the issue is solved and we can mark this thread as solved ?
