Good morning and welcome to my nightmare,

One of my production servers is failing when installing updates. About 190 updates have been queued up and are unable to install successfully. Windows will roll back any changes once rebooted. I have tried a number of fixes that i've found on the internet such as; DISM repairs, SFC scans, reinstalling the windows update agent etc with no success.

I have tried to run SFCfix but it fails saying "failed to check for updates"

CBS logs are located at this link - U

I tried to use your large file uploader but as i mention above. SFCFix doesn't work with my server. Following instructions did not help, i still get the "Failed to check for updates" message. If i failed to follow the rules of this forum i apologize.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

- Corey

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Please do the following so I can gather more info.

Step#1 - Export Publishers Key

  1. Click on the Start button type regedit
  2. When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT\Publishers

  4. Once selected, click File > Export....
  5. Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (*.*)
  6. Name this file PUB (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.

Once done please upload this file via Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace.

Here is the link to the PUB file. Thank you for the quick response.

I ran a few updates of different types and they appeared to fail or succeed at random. I am having some success which is definitely a step in the right direction. Here is the latest set of logs.

Can you keep checking for updates and installing until all of them that can install do and only the ones that don't remain?

OK. Attempt to install only one of the updates and let me know the KB number of the update. Once the update fails, please provide me with the c:\windows\logs\cbs\CBS.log.

MY problem is solved. Thank you so much!! I am marking the thread as solved.
