I am running Win 8.1, and i am trying to install the updates KB5012670 and KB4486105, but i encountering the Error codes 800F0831 and 800700A1 when installing it. I have tried this several times on different days
The installation goes to completion but it fails.(see screenshots)
I ran the SFC Scan and it failed at 43% completed, Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but unable to fix. (see screenshot)
I ran SFCFix and corruption was found asking I put in installation DVD which I was not supplied by Dell when I ordered this computer. There was an option to continue with alternative options (see screenshot)
I attached screenshots, CBS logfile, and SFCFix textfile in a compressed folder.
Thank you for any help!

Hello and welcome,

Do you still need help ?

There are a lot of corruptions to fix.
Make sure to backup all your important data first in case the drive is failing.

Please report back when done.

The logs shows there are over 4100 corrupted files. This is a major but partial fix to start with.
Follow the instructions below please.

WARNING! The following fix is specific to the user's system in this thread only. No one else should follow these instructions, as it could damage your system.
  • Download

SFCFix and move the executable to your desktop.
  • Download the file SFCFix.zip and save it on your desktop.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the

    SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete. Please be patient.!
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Zip that file. Attach the zipped SFCFix.txt to your next reply.

There is some confusion as to your instructions... I downloaded the SFCFix and moved to desktop which is not a .zip file. If I click on SFCFix icon on desktop it is running the see attached file. I want to do this correctly... please assist.

You have to download 2 files, first SFCFix.exe which is already on your desktop and secondly SFCFix.zip which includes the fix script.
Your screenshot looks like you ran SFCFix.exe without the script.
All clear now ?

That is correct. Click the blue "I agree" button to start the download.
