All but 7 succeeded. The ones that failed were 3012235, 3036612, 3035583, 3035553, 3045685, 3049508, and 2934520. So we're getting there! Logs attached.

If you are unsure at all, please ask. Thanks. Step#1 - Retrieve Components Hive Please download the Freeware RegBak from here: Acelogix Software - Download products You will find it at the bottom of the page that the link brings you to. Go ahead and install this program and accept all the defaults. After the last install screen the program should open. Click the New Backup button. Accept the defaults and simply click Start. When it says Finished successfully, click the Close button. This will bring you back to the main screen of the program. You will see one entry in this list with the date that you did it. Right-click on this line-item and select Explore Backup... This will bring you into the folder where the backup was made. You should see a Users folder and a Windows folder along with a couple other files. Double-click on the Windows folder to open it. Then open the System32 folder and then config folder. You should see around 6 files in here, one of which is named COMPONENTS. Copy the COMPONENTS file to your Desktop. If the COMPONENTS file does not exist, please fetch it instead from C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS. Now right click on the COMPONENTS file that is on your desktop and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder. Then please upload the zip file (COMPONENTS.zip) to your favourite file sharing website (it will be too big to upload here). Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and then just provide the link in your reply. You can close any open windows you have as well as the RegBack program now.

Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps. 2. Open an elevated Command Prompt and run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth just like you have in the past. 3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as DISM fails. You can simply do this by clicking the magnifying glass on the toolbar as shown below. 4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine. 5. Zip up and attach the LogFile.PML file as well as your CBS.log. Thank you.

So after about 15 I got distracted and didn't stop it immediately when it ended. I've attached the file, but if you're not able to use it because it ran too long, let me know and I'll run it again without getting distracted Thanks! https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=6f05713cbd64d15c!1830&authkey=!APx_8rqAYAu_NWE&ithint=file,zip

Would it be using both of our local times? [edit: nevermind, that doesn't make any sense for the log file] Also, I just ran it again, it took almost exactly one hour to finish and right when it finished I got BSOD with "Unexpected Kernel Mode Trap." So the procmon info is gone. I'm attaching the CBS.log, but what other information will you need? Attachments CBS.zip 1.9 MB · Views: 1

It looks like you started the process at 15:01. Does that sound accurate? If so then we know it happens in the very beginning so I would start the process but then stop Procmon about 5 minutes in if this is accurate. Keep track of the exact start time of the process and let me know. It will help when correlating these logs. Thanks.

The hex value yours shows for the dash is AD as shown below but it should have been 2D. Step#1 - Replace Manually 1. Download this file named COMPONENTS4.ZIP and save to your desktop. 2. Right-click on it and select Extract all.... Make sure the "Show extracted files when complete" is checked and click Extract. 3. Now we have the COMPONENTS file that we will be using to replace your current one. 4. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config 5. Right-click on the current COMPONENTS file and select rename. Rename it to COMPONENTS.bad4. Note: If you get an error that the file is in use, reboot your computer and then try again. 6. Take the file from the Components4 folder on your desktop and paste it into C:\Windows\System32\config Step#2 - DISM /RestoreHealth Scan Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own. Edit: You may want to run Process Monitor again for the 1st 20 minutes just in case we need it. Right-click on the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin) When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth When DISM finishes scanning your component store, zip up and attach your CBS log to your next post: C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
