Hi i am just wanting to ask a question about windows update(just here asking for advice without wasting resources in the main forums).Yesterday,I wiped the whole computer and downloaded the latest windows 10 21H2 (OS Built 19044.1387).After checking for updates many times(I restarted when it prompt me to restart),I notice that the numbers of windows update installed in my computer is surprisingly low(I know that there are more than 100 updates in win7 and 8.1 where I used them before):Capture.PNG1.PNG
I wonder is it normal or there is some problems? If so I will wipe my drive again :)

Some updates have prerequisites. Before they become available you have to install other updates first.

In windows 7 it's not uncommon for only 70 updates to appear at first for example. After a reboot and installing those updates, more updates may appear and you end up with 170 updates installed by the end.

Moving this to another forum.

Well,I did install all updates available in windows update, ran DISM restorehealth and sfc with no errors at all(a few hours ago).Everything is fine it seems
By the way, note that I am currently not wanting any help as I am gonna wipe my drive again after upgrading my ram to test whether 4gb ram run well with windows 10 32bit or 64 bit.
After I settle down and if the same problem happens again,I will ask for help.No point wasting your time like this right?:)

As of Windows 10, there is this cumulative update. It is a big update that accumulates over time, but it is a result of many updates combined into one update that makes it a lot easier for the average user to be up to date when they have reinstalled Windows. So instead of 150+ updates that can cause a headache to install, you only have a couple of updates to install and the result is equivalent.

No problem.

Don't worry about taking 'resources' from other forums. The only section that is understaffed is Windows Update, which should be used for problems with running Windows Update or corruption in Windows. For any other questions connected to Windows Update, like this one, feel free to ask in the Windows 10 forum or whatever operating system you are using. The forums are there for a reason, besides if you post in the lounge when you post a question for which you want help you technically give a moderator more work as they'd have to move your question to the right forum. ;) I doubt anyone would mind (so long as you don't repeatedly do it), but just saying.

downloaded the latest windows 10 21H2
This is your answer.

To build on what axe0 said, you downloaded and installed the most current version - one that was already patched and/or included updated file versions. And since W10 is still being supported, the version you download was very recently fully updated with a "major" update (a key point here) and therefore did not need many Windows Updates.

You cannot go by W7 or W8.1 as it had been a while since they had any "major" updates.
