Full update name is 2022-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5014699)

Computer:
Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 21H2
Installed on ‎02/‎09/‎2020
OS build 19044.1526
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4170.0

Processor AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor 3.70 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

There was a previous update which failed to install, but I hoped that as Windows Updates merge together, it would be installable eventually, but that hasn't seemed to be the case.

Update and shutdown/restart results in the normal Windows screen attempting to install updates, only for the process to stop at 1% completion. The computer restarted, and then Windows rolls back the incomplete installation. Unlike others, there isn't an error message in Windows Update, just the constant reminder that I need to install the update:

sfc /scannow found something to fix, which it did so:

sfc scannow.png

SFCfix log file found nothing:

I've inserted the SFCFix.txt file just in case. CBS logs are zipped and included.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have any hints on how to fix this? This behaviour is still occurring to date.

Hi, JayNDT.

Welcome to Sysnative Forums.

I am a Security Analyst and a Windows Update Trainee, and I will be assisting you regarding your computer's issues. Since I'm still in training, my fixes have to be approved by a qualified Update Expert, so there may be a slight delay in my replies. Look at it as a good thing though, since you will have two people looking at your problem.

Thank you so much for your patience.

I will be back to you as soon as I am ready.

Hi, JayNDT.

We are not ignoring you. The logs show many corruptions and it will take some time to prepare a fix for you.

Hi, JayNDT.

You didn't reply to any of my messages and I wonder if you are still there.

I'll provide you a fix to run, but there are 3 items missing from your system and I'm still searching for them. So, don't try SFC/DISM or update the computer yet.

1. SFCFix

Please do the following:

WARNING! The following fix is specific to the user's system in this thread only. No one else should follow these instructions, as it could damage your system.
  • Download the attached SFCFix.zip and save it on your Desktop.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Attach that file to your next reply.

Good! (y)

We are now working on the remaining missing files and will be back as soon as we are ready.

Hi, JayNDT.

Thanks for your patience once more! It was rather a complicated process to find the missing files.

Let's see if this will fix the updates issue.

1. SFCFix

Please do the following:

  • Download the attached SFCFix.zip and save it on your Desktop.

2. Try to update

Check for updates now, and let us know the result.

Thanks, I applied the fix and tried to update, same issue, it stopped at 1% during the reboot. A retry of it did the same thing.

Do I need to do any DISM updates?

Hello.

Upload your COMPONENTS Hive
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com or Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace, and post the link in your next reply.

Letting you know that we are working on it. (y)

Please accept my apologies. I had to be away from my computer for a few days. I'll do my best to catch up.

Hello!

Thanks for your patience!

We need to import some missing registry keys, so please do the following:

1. SFCFixScript.txt

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user. Running it on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.

  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse - put
    Code:
tags around the log to break up the text.

2. SFC and DISM

Run SFC and DISM scan once more and post the result (screenshot).

===========================

  • If the scans won't complete, please attach a new CBS file for me to check.
  • If the scans are successful, then try to update and let me know the result.

Hi, JayNDT.

Can you please attach the new CBS file for us to check?
