Hi. We have tried to update windows and it keeps failing on windows update: Windows Update (SQL Server 2016 Service Page 2 GDR (KB5014365)) Cannot be installed or rolled back It began about a month ago and it happens every time. We have also rebooted multiple times. This has also been reviewed by the hosting companies I.T. and they claim Windows thinks it is installed, when it is not. They have also said it cannot be rolled back.
The error is: Install Error - 0x80070643 The only recent changes on the server are code and database schema update and windows updates. Below is a screenshot of the error:
We have tried the following to resolve:
Cleared Windows Update cache
Reset Windows Update components
Run Windows Update troubleshooter. Although no issues found, we see the following:
We have also tried to manually download and install the update.
When we try and install "SQLServer2016-KB5014365-x64", it states:
The version of SQL Server instance MSSQLSERVER does not match the version expected by the SQL Server update. The installed SQL Server product version is 13.0.1601.5, and the expected SQL Server version is 13.2.5026.0.
We have also tried the following DISM Comands: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth, DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Checkhealth
Below are the results from running the DISM Commands:
I've also attached the CBS file results after running DISM.
We have also see this thread [SOLVED] - Server 2019 v1809 unable to take any Cumulative Updates which looks like a potential fix, however, the issue does not appear to be exactly the same.
Let me know if you need any further informaiton.
Many thanks.
