Dear Sir

I would be very grateful for your help with this problem please.

Toshiba Satellite Pro L770 laptop. W7 Pro 64

Recently noticed that the cooling fan was running for a long time. Checked CPU temperature and it was running quite hot.

Checked Windows Task Manager. The only thing using CPU is an instance off svchost.exe consuming about 25% CPU time. The services running under this are:
- AeLookupSvc
- Appinfo
- BITS
- Browser
- Eaphost
- gpsvc
- IKEEXT
- iphlpsvc
- LanmanServer
- ProfSvc
- Schedule
- Seclogon
- Sens
- ShellWHDetection
- Winmgmt
- wuauserv

Have run several malware scans (Kasperksy, Sophos, Spybot) all negative

Tried stopping windows update service (wuauserv) and instantly, the fan stopped and the CPU activity for that instance of svchost fell to minimal levels.

I have had no problems with Windows update in the past. Virtually all updates have installed at the first attempt, though a couple have needed two attempts, but this was achieved without my intervention. If I go into windows update and click on Check for Updates, it can run literally continuously for well over an hour (after which, I terminate the process.)

Ran SFCFix as requested. Here is the result.

SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro.

You have helped me in the past with a difficult problem. I'm hoping you will be able to do the same again.

Best wishes
