[SOLVED] Windows Update not working (error code 0x800700c1)

I have exactly the same issue as in this thread it seems: [SOLVED] - Windows Update (error code 0x800700c1)

I have attached the same data and details as droberts82 did in that thread as per Windows Update Forum Posting Instructions. Really hoping for a solution for my system where I don't have to do a fresh install.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log

SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.

• Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
• Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
• Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

• SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
• Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
• Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.

DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

1. If you don't use the Bitlocker encryption you can hide this update: Issues with KB5034441? This is how you can temporarily hide this update from being offered again.
2. Otherwise you'll need to resize the WinRE partition using these instructions: KB5028997: Instructions to manually resize your partition to install the WinRE update - Microsoft Support
