[SOLVED] Windows update KB 5018410 will not install

Good Afternoon All

This is happening to me again for the second month running – last months update failed to install one of two updates which then inexplicably disappeared but another number appeared in the ‘uninstall’ list.

After deferring since 11th October, today I have tried to install KB 5018858 and KB 5018410 but this latter one has failed and is now stuck on Installing – 0%.

At the top of the ‘uninstall’ list with today’s date is KB 5018329 – which was not shown on the original list of available updates.

There is also a warning in Red font as shown on the attached screenshot.

I don’t know what to do next – I have been recommended to this forum by Gary R MRU Admin on Bleeping Computer forum - please can you advise my next moves?

Further to my #1 post above in response to your instructions.

OS is Windows 10 Home 64-bit Build 19044.1826

SFCFixScript.txt
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
6. SFCFix will now process the script.
7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

Update failed. Hope this attached CBS folder is what you require.

It seems there is going to be a number of these errors and the fastest way to resolve them is usually with the update assistant.

Download the

Windows 10 Update Assistant to your desktop.

• Right-click on Windows10Upgrade9252.exe and select the option: Run as administrator.
• Press the Update now button, click after the compatibility check on Next.
• The Update Assistant will now download the latest Feature Update.
• After verifying the download, the Feature Update will be installed.
• When this process is ready, click on the Restart now button to complete the installation.

Thank you - I think I can report success !!

I have carried out the Update Assistant procedure as you instructed and I now have the Feature Update 22H2 installed together with all the (I think) required other updates related to it.

Is there anything more I need to do ?

Can I now remove all the things I had to save on my desktop ?

That's great news and yes you should be fully up to date now. Please feel free to remove what was saved to your desktop. You can just delete them.
