Hi,

Was looking for some help with this one I seem to be going in circles with this patch I work for a company and we have come across 1 machine that refuse to install this particular patch KB4512506 I have tried multiple fixes to see if this works and also followed the forums steps a quick description below is the steps I have taken

1. I ran the update it tells me it finds a patch KB4512506 I attempt to install which results in the error 0x80004005
2. I have ran all the fixes the forum as described in the steps required
3. I have even ran the reset tool that resets the updates still the same issues persist
4. I cant seem to locate any errors which stand out

I will attach my CBS.logs if someone could have a look please

SFCScan reports back no errors
Windows trouble shooter reports that it fixed updates but doesent make a diffrence
SURT tool Reports no errors

Hi!

FRST Registry Search
1. Click your Start button and type in cmd.
2.After you find the Command Prompt, right click on it and select Run as Administrator.
3. Copy and paste the following into the Command Prompt:

reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\COMPONENTS

4. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
5. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
6. Copy and paste KB4486563 into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
7. When the scan is complete a notepad window will open with the results. Please attach this to your next reply. It is saved on your desktop named SearchReg.txt.

Step#1 - FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download the attached fixlist.txt and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.
6. Try updates and attach CBS.log if any fail.

Thank you "software maniac",

This resolved my update issue, and now my computer is fully up to date What a great forum this is amazing skills

1 last question I have 5 workstations producing the same error will I open a new topic for those they also display the exact same failure code?

However the patch is KB4507449

So happy here thank you :)

weird I am looking for that patch kb:4507449 but effected machines to see it looks like there's been a new push of patches and that one has disappeared off the list of required patches? but replaced with KB4512506 with the same error?

Given that the fix was for the exact same error and the exact same patch I took a risk and ran the fix script on there and once it installed it said it fixed patch kb:4507449 and installed

All good thank you,
