Hi Windows Update guru's
Windows Vista 32bit. 4 GB ram, Windows updates recently failed to install from May this year .
Have tried the following steps to fix.
1. Ran Windows Update troubleshooter - came back with "Windows Update error 0x80070057 (2016-05-13-T-05_14_56P)
Afterwards, attempting to run Windows Update it just sat there "checking for updates" for over 2 hours, nothing happening.
2. Ran sfc /scannow - found corrupt files and successfully repaired. (Attached CBS.log zipped)
3. Downloaded and ran SFCFix - from an admin command prompt. received message "checking for updates.. Failed to check for updates. This may be due to an internet connection problem or a temporary availability failure of the update servers. Please ensure you are running the latest version of the program before continuing or exit now... "
*btw: I could run SFCFix on another Windows 7 machine without a problem.
4. I clean booted Windows "msconfig, no startup items (unchecked), only microsoft services enabled (except team viewer to remote)
5. I am still running the System Update Readiness tool for Vista, but its not getting to the stage after 30 minutes to install a hotifx. Will continue and let it run.

Help appreciated on where to go from here.View attachment cbs.zip
