Hi, my name is Thorsten and I got a lot of windows update fails and problems in turning windows functions on or off (window is empty).

I did run a sfc /scannow as well as running SUR, which gave me information about 800 package files or so missing.
I was able decrease the number by copying packages from another computer, but there are still a lot missing.
Then I did run SFCFix, but no result.

Here are fresh logs from CBS.log, CheckSUR.log and SFCFix.txt

It would be really really nice if someone could help me out of this mess :confused2::grin1:

Hello and welcome

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named Aura. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phrase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

Hi AliensHive :)

My name is Aura and I'll be assisting you under Brian's supervision (like he explained already). We'll start by replacing all the files listed in your CheckSUR log. Follow the instructions below please.

Alright, there's a lot of errors coming from the Registry so we'll need a bit more information. Follow the instructions below please.

Step#1 - Export CBS Registry Key

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type regedit
  2. When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing

  4. Once selected, click File > Export....
  5. Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (*.*)
  6. Name this file CBS (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.

Once done please upload this file via Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace.

Sorry for the delay :) We'll start by fixing the errors reported SURT, and then we'll run it again to get a new log.

Hi Aura,

I could slightly imagine what you tried to do, so I allowed myself to change all entries in SFCFix.txt named
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\AliensHive_CBS\ComponentDetect\
to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\ComponentDetect\

I did run the SFCFix.txt again and afterwards SURT.

Here are the new results:
http://alienshive.homeserver.com/download/help/SFCFix_result2.zip
http://alienshive.homeserver.com/download/help/CheckSUR_4.zip

I hope I've done the right thing...

Okay,

after checking the SURTlog was clear, I did a full reboot and tried to add/remove some windows functions:
winfunctions.jpg
I'm happy! It works again

So I tried to do a normal Windows Update with these results (sorry, that it is in german):
update_error.jpg
Error Code 80073701
Error Code 80070103

I'll run SURT again...

I did some effort to check out what's still missing. So I did

I'm still getting this:
update_error2.jpg

Error Code 80073701 for:
KB3063858
KB3068708

and
Error Code 80070103 for:
Intel Corporation - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2 - Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000
(which maybe is installed already, or some newer device driver)

SURT-Log is still clear !!!

I hope this helps :r1:

Alright, let's try to install one of these updates manually.

Manual Install
1. Please manually download and install KB3063858.
2. If it fails, please zip/send me the following two logs.
C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

It seems that you have an update preventing another one from being installed. Follow the instructions below please.

Remove Update Manually
1. Click on the Start
Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter
wusa /uninstall /KB:2922229

4. Let me know if it says it was successful or if there are any errors.

It seems KB292229 was successfully deinstalled. No error messages in the command console or in a message window appeared.
