Hello,

On my windows 7 computer, windows update cannot find new updates, it never finishes to search for updates.
I have also many others issues (windows live mail never finish to start, blocked on step connexion, with chrome the downloads cannot be checked by antivirus, ...) that have appeared at the same time.

I already had some issues with windows update and finally solved it owing to sfcfix and the nice help on this forum, (the post was https://www.sysnative.com/forums/wi...uldnt-search-new-updates-sfc-corruptions.html).

For my current issues I ran a sfc /scannow in an admistrator prompt and at the end it told me that some of the repairs had failed.
Then I ran sfcfix.exe (with no script) in the same administrator prompt and had the following sfcfix.log result.

SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro.
Start time: 2016-08-14 11:49:26.871
Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1 - amd64
Not using a script file.

Finally, I think I need the help of an expert. What may I do for next steps ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Willy2,
thank you for you help but I didn't success in applying this patch.
At step "1. Download and install update KB 3020369", at the beginning of installation, just after I executed the file I downloaded form microsoft site, it opened a small window with the message "looking for updates ..." (or somehow like that) that lasted more than 30 minutes.
I fear that I have to correct the corruption that sfc /scannow can not correct alone.

Is any expert available to help me with my two corrupted files ?

Hi Cleth,

Do you still need assistance with this issue?

Hi Aura.
Yes I still need help.

@willy2: I tried to do this but couldn't confirm that this is the problem. I have no big memory nor CPU usage. Moreover some days the symptom is quite different. Windows update tell me there is no update for me and all previous update have disappear from my updates historic ...

Hi Aura,
Sorry for the delay.
Here is the content of SFCFix.txt I obtained by executing SFCFix and the attached .zip file :

Though, I had a windows error message during the run (twice the same message). The error window was in French, as it is the language from my OS, so the translation will certainly be a little clumsy. It was something like :
"SFCFix.exe, incorrect image
C:\...\WindowsDefended\MpOav.dll is not done to be executed under Windows or it contains an error. Reinstall or contact your system administrator."

Alright let's run SFC again then.

System File Checker (SFC)
Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;
  • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select
    Spcusrh.png
    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't have the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

Hi Aura,

I followed the instructions.
The SFC scan told me that it found corrupted files but did not manage to repair them all.
You can find the cbs.txt file at the following link :
Dropbox - 20160921

I am not sure, you have seen at the end of my previous post, but I had an error when executing SFCFix and the attached .zip file
"

All good. Please follow the instructions below and download a new copy of SFCFix.exe. If the same error message pop-up, I'll be notifying the developer.

Maybe it was not the thing to do, but I also tried after this to make a new sfc /scannow as explained in your post #9.
I still have the message about ound corrupted files that sfc did not manage to repair them all.
If needed, the cbs.txt file is here :
Dropbox - cbs.txt

Thanks again for the attention you give to my post.
Sincerely,

I'll report the issue to the developer of SFCFix so he can take a look.
