Almost since the first day I bought this laptop the Windows Update stopped working. I tried a number of things but most was the chkdsk, sfc, dism sequence.
In this situation I also ran SFCFix but it couldn't fix the issue.

This is Windows 10 Home and it is failing when it backups and Windows Update. I also purchased Windows 10 Pro which it is failing to upgrade.

Step#1 - DISM /RestoreHealth Scan
Warning:this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Right-click on the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
  2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  3. Once it finishes, copy and paste the following into the command-prompt window and press Enter. If prompted to overwrite the existing file go ahead.
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  4. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Please zip/upload to this thread.

I kind of did those steps before and attached in the original post. I can do it again.

Since you are willing to upgrade, let's focus on that:

1. Download the Media Creation Tool and save this to your desktop. Go ahead and run this as well. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you get to this link.
2. Accept the License Agreement
3. Download the ISO file to your desktop.
4. Double-click on the ISO and then run the setup to try and upgrade your machine.

We want to get the ISO so that you don't have to keep downloading which can take hours.

If it fails, attach Setupact.log and Setuperr.log.
