Hi Brian,

Still getting the 80080005 error, even retried a couple of times.

I have attached the current CBS log, not sure if it will be helpful but there's certainly a lot of entries that appeared in it during the attempted update.

Thanks,
MY

Hi Brian,

I ran the fixit, rebooted and tried the update again. The first time it tried to update, but returned with the screen in a state as if I hadn't tried updating yet. The second and subsequent times it came back with 80080005 again.

Not sure if it will help, but here's the cbs log again.

This seems to be a stubborn one.

Thanks,
MY

12. Once the fixes are complete you will be prompted to restart your machine. Answer Yes.

Awesome. Now go back to Windows Updates and check for updates. Please keep in mind that the first time you do this it could take a very long time (hours).

Let me know the results.

Hi Brian,

It's still giving me the 80080005 error about 1 or 2 minutes after starting the update process.

Thanks,
MY

Thanks. Let's toggle your Windows Update setting.

Open Windows Update
click on Change Settings
select 'Never check for updates' in the dropdown - click OK
Exit Windows Update
now go back to Windows Update
Click on Change Settings
Select 'Install Updates Automatically'
Click OK
now try manually checking for updates.

Done.

Disabling updates was straightforward.

When re-enabling updates things got a little more interesting.

The computer started to run really slow, especially when I clicked on selections to navigate around the control panel (to get back to the check for updates screen).

When I got back to the 'check update' screen, when I click "check for updates", a popup comes up that says:

"Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer."

I thought about manually restarting the service, ore restarting, however I thought I would check in first.

Thanks,
MY
