Hello,
Im working on a lenovo y50 touch, and it is not allowing me to update windows. First off i had issues beforehand and tried to simply use the refresh option to reset windows but keep my data which didnt work. That was my final effort after not being able to update before. Before "refreshing" my computer i tried using the administrative cmd prompt and using the "sfc /scannow" command but it wouldnt work, which then led me to try the command "dism /image:c:\/cleanup-image /revertpendingactions" because I couldnt run the previous command due to pending repairs. I got annoyed and decided the refresh and before i did anything i checked the updates that initially install themselves when i refresh. it shows

(KB2911106)
(KB2903939)
(KB2887595)

(KB2930275) which shows failure after a clean "refresh"

The computer runs slow which really just should not happen its a really solid system but it lags like its totting bricks sometimes then rushes to catch up. attached are the files asked for. Im trying to not install anything new or conflicting until further instruction. Thank you in advance for all the help.

System File Checker (SFC)
Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;
  • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select
    Spcusrh.png
    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't have the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

SFC returned a clean log, let's run DISM and see if it have anything to report.

DISM - Fixing Component Store Corruption
Follow the instructions below to run a DISM operation on your system.
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code:
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  • Let the scan run until the end (100%). Depending on your system, it can take some time;
  • Copy the C:\Windows\Logs\DISM folder and C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log file on your Desktop, then right-click on it, go to Send to... and select Compressed .zip archive;
  • Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the DISM scan is completed, it won't contains the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

Working on it now. Question the cbs.txt file that i copied to the desktop earlier you want me to add that to the zip archive, do i need to run anything or will the cbs file change after the dism finishes?

should i try installing the updates again and seeing where it locks up? This is a clean refresh so i haven't tried to reinstall any updates, but if i go into my recent updates its says there is already a failed one. I just noticed that in some of the thread on this same topic when things got to a certain level of pear-shaped more drastic measures were taken. I just wanted to start on a clean slate.

No, I need a new CBS.txt file, so you need to run the command again (or just copy/paste the CBS.log on your Desktop). Also, it seems like I need to ask you permission to download this file, I need a public download URL here :) And we'll try to install the updates after I check the results of the DISM scan.

It did, yes :) Alright so DISM didn't return anything wrong. Now, try to install your Windows Updates. If they fail, upload the two files below as soon as you can.

C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

should i use regular windows update and if soe should i be updating in any specific order? i know sometimes that can matter

Use the regular Windows Update panel, and install them like you normally world.

So i have updated and restarted a few times and now it is trying to download 97 updates but when it says downloading it wont download anything just hangs at 0% 0KB total. My internet is working just fine im connecting to this site, im capable of streaming videos. no issues. ive tried it with wifi, ive tried it plugged in. ive tried it after disabling anything else that my be using the internet, and i also tried to download a single update using the windows update thing and nothing not even a budge. What should i do next?

Will i have to manually download all 97 updates?

So im not sure what changed but when i dd the dism command earlier it said it fixed something but i didnt think much of it However everything seems fixed now all updates are installed. i was even able to install .net framework 4.6.

Thank you very aura, I appreciate your help. Take care

Glad to see that all your updates have installed forgottenpoet :) And no problem, you're welcome!
