Hi,
I am having trouble installing some windows update eg KB3013769-KB2990967-KB3035583

SFCFix.exe does not move on after DISM fails with illegal character error, CTRL-C to stop (waited over 50 minutes) SFCFix.exe gives the following log result.

SFCFix version 2.4.5.0 by niemiro.
Start time: 2015-06-24 17:26:17.867
Microsoft Windows 8.1 Update 1 - amd64
Not using a script file.

AutoAnalysis::

Successfully processed all directives.
SFCFix version 2.4.5.0 by niemiro has completed.
Currently storing 0 datablocks.
Finish time: 2015-06-24 18:24:45.931

Have tried SFC/SCANNOW but it doesn't work due to Windows Protection error (tried all the above in both normal and safe mode as Admin).
Have tried fresh and system restore but no go..
I am at a loss as what to do now.

Logs attached.

Any help would be appreciated

Steve

Hello and welcome

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named Aura. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phrase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

Hi BrainDrab,

Thank you for your reply,
I started to have another couple of problems with this PC and due the fact that it did not have many programs installed, mainly used for surfing. I decided to Reset the PC to factory defaults.
I would have loved to have worked out what was wrong but decided that it was going to be an ever downward spiral.

Thanks again for the service that you provide, definitely a site that I will follow.

Thanks

Steve
