Windows Update fails with this comment:"There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070006)" Retry.

I have ran DISM & SFC and there was no corruption..numerous times. Made a "Test" Account as Administrator and ran Windows Update there. Same error. I had help from the Microsoft Help Answer chat site. He could not fix my issue.

Will I have to do a clean reinstall?

Thank you in Advance,

Hello Sofftwaremaniac,

Yes I do please. No hurry..

I used the Tweak Repair and something went wrong. I have updated to v1803 around the beginning of June and I was getting updates until I used the Tweak Repair. It took me 2 months to update to v1803 because Microsoft blocked the update for Alienware computers. Dell tells me that Microsoft is still blocking these updates. But why was I able to update to v1803 and was continuing to get updates without any problems? Do you think I messed my system up with Tweak Repair? Or could it be something else?

TIA

Hi,
I don't think the Tweaking.com utility cause issues.

The fact you were able to upgrade to Win10 1803 makes me believe that MS has indeed fixed the switchable GPU issues they had a while back.

Let's try the following:

Download the following file.
Create a new folder on your Desktop.
Extract the file you've downloaded to a new folder on your Desktop you've created in the previous step.
Right-click ResetWUEng.cmd file and select Run as Administrator.
A windows will appear prompting you if you want to continue with the process. Please press Y.
Another menu will appear. Press 2: Reset Windows Update Components.
Verify that you have selected number 2 and hit Enter.
Wait until the process is complete.
You should see the message: The operation completed successfully.
Press any key to continue. . .

Close the window and reboot.

Try updating once again. If it fails with the same message, please attach CBS.log

Hi,

I am still getting same error after following your instructions in previous post.

Open Command Prompt as Admin and enter the following:

Code:
sc config wuauserv type= share

Press Enter.
Wait for the command to complete and then reboot.

Retry updates.

WOW! I uninstalled my AV and rebooted. I never thought that it was my Anti Virus (Webroot). Windows update worked like a charm! THANKYOU kind Sir for your help and patience!!

EDITED: I reinstalled my AntiVirus and it is not blocking Windows Update anymore. I was running a Beta AV and it just needed to be uninstalled/reinstalled. DOH!

Yes what a relief! Besides I also learned a lot from you by helping me. This issue is resolved...

So thanks again!:rofl12:
